Hi!
Out of the gate this one is beyond the type of travel we do.
Two reviewers really like this book on Cargo Ship travel. On the plus side the book is dirt cheap, on the down side its ancient being last updated in the mid 90's. Just copy and paste this address to the book which is: Travel by Cargo Ship by Hugo Verlomme,
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1860110355/103-6017593-2577437?v=glance&n=28315...
Despite its age this is just the book to point you in many of the right directions. Assume much into is outdated so that whenever you contact a company always ask if they still do this or that routing and whether they can point you to newer cargo companies in areas of your travel interest.
Other than this book I'd say solid web research will do the trick....at least so far as amassing all available current info.
Good Luck. _________________ Mark my words ~ Eat well three times a day at virginia bed and breakfast inn.

Hello
ACCOMMODATIONS: We felt guilty at how nice the accommodations were. We'd envisioned roughing it across the ocean, but instead, we were put up in a very nice sixth-floor cabin, 320 square feet (30 square meters) in size, with a large sitting room, a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and small private bathroom. It was essentially a tiny apartment, with furniture, built-in storage, and electronics (CD and DVD players). Crew members spend four months at a time on board, so their rooms are thoughtfully designed to be snug, but comfortable, living spaces. We loved the design details--a discreet built-in retractable clotheslines in the bathroom, a reading light right next to the bed, a desk with handy power outlets, and lots of mirrors to make the space appear larger and brighter. We had access to a shared washer and dryer, a gym room (where we played ping pong), a sauna, and a swimming pool (not filled because of the ship's rocking). We were able to look out the window or step outside anytime to see the ocean. This was the opposite of transoceanic flight, with all its hurry, security theater, and cramped antiseptic spaces. _________________ Limited Companies |

Hello
Cruising on a cargo ship might seem like a rather odd idea. Some people might feel as if they would be stowaways on a working vessel.
But those same people think of sailing the high seas and experience a huge adrenaline rush. The idea of sailing into exotic or ancient ports sends them searching for a passport and suitcase.
Freighter cruises offer advantages to budget travelers: the daily cost on a freighter is often less than even the discounted traditional cruises.
Cruising on a cargo ship is likely to require more time. The shortest freighter cruises are usually about 15 days in length, and some are counted in months rather than days. That fact alone often eliminates most travelers. There are other advantages and disadvantages to consider:
Freighter Cons
This option is not for people who enjoy dressing for dinner, captain's cocktail parties and ice carvings. Special dietary needs usually are not accommodated, and there are virtually no planned activities other than meals.
Obviously these can be serious drawbacks, even for the most self-sacrificing budget travelers. Itineraries are long and built upon the need to deliver goods rather than passengers. They can change quickly, and you won't be reimbursed if the crew decides to bypass your favorite port on the itinerary.
Port stops can be lengthy. In short, this is not the best idea for most honeymooners or anyone who needs to use up a few remaining days of vacation. Freighter cruises can require weeks or months of free time. _________________ Wooden doors |
