What is the safest place now? i heard that south africa is relatively safe now.

yes i would say that south africa is on safety issues, but it is like any other country, if you are a tourist, be sure to act local Smile

It's got to be Ethiopia (despite what you've heard about riots lately it's still very safe).

gambia and senegal are as safe as anywhere. travelled as lone female and only any hassle in the tourist resorts
