The Sunday Times of London came out with its July Travel Magazine, featuring a usual mix of articles on budget hotels (“100 Euro Hotels for Under £100) and celebrities (“Singer Kate Nash talks sharks, theme parks and wrestling”)

One piece that caught our eye was on Opatija, which the newspaper calls “Croatia’s lusty Riviera town.” Situated on the northern Adriatic coast, Opatija doesn’t seem to be undergoing a tourism renaissance, nor are there new luxury hotels beckoning well-heeled travelers. Rather, with its lovely waterside promenade and complicated history, the writer simply calls it “one of those curious corners of Europe.”

not a spot for surfing is it? maybe a good place for honeymooners I guess? the romantic type of beach probably
