| in my opinion, Cuba is the most civilized island, the most cultivated, the schools are among the best in the world and above all healthcare is free and very good quality. Rape and murder and other serious crimes are rare compared to Jamaica or the dominican republic, haiti. Cuba is the best place to live but there is the financial poverty, people own nothing. |

How come that the people own nothing? I'm curious to know. _________________ www.citytaxisgalway.com |

I think Cuba is like every other county, there are poor people and there are rich people. Is Cuba poorer than some other country? Probably, but it's also richer than some other country. With all those Cuban cigars i don't know how can they be poor _________________ XTourist: Traveling without moving |

I think that you have to take is as a whole, some of the problemas of comunism is exatly that, the general comfor level is low, but the social relations, conditions and differences between classes are beter... _________________ MEXICO BEACHES

Cuba is a small country, limited by a blockade by the USA which makes it difficult to export and import.
They have recently had some bad damage from a hurricane.
Human rights in Cuba include the right to have enough to eat, the right to have somewhere to live, and the right to vote, although the present government limits options.
Education is free and literacy is better than the USA. A student who meets educational standards can study up to PhD without costs.
Healthcare is universal. Some services are limited by the blockade which makes ceratin meds impossible to get but as a result, Cuba is developing its own pharmaceutical industry.
The main source of foreign currency is the huge Cuban tourist industry, but natural resources such as nickel and oil are being developed.
There is a rather false image of life in Cuba based on the two currencies. One is the "convertible" which can be used by tourists and to purchase luxuries. The other, the peso, worth 24 times as much, is the regular currency.
There is no doubt that Cuba is being kept poor by the USA but once the blockade is lifted, Cuba may well surprise the world. _________________ Mark my words ~ Eat well three times a day at virginia bed and breakfast inn.
