| In my opinion Breckenridge, CO is as good as any other location for a hostel. if your town attracts tourists then it should be ok... what are your concerns? what are your alternatives? |

| Hey Sam! I am currently living in Boston and this city does not give the same statistics as a possible site in Breckenridge. My only concern is that the medium age is 37 for high season which I believe is a little older for the hostel atmosphere. Boston and New York are saturated right now with hostels, and I was looking for an ideal place to insure the odds are in my favor. What makes you say this is as good as a location as anywhere else? Thanks for you imput! Much appreciated! |

Hi Tiffany,
In my opinion, in this day and age, there are 2 things important to people: money & health. So if you offer a good place to stay at a better price that's a great start. And health is often associated with youth, so if you decorate and promote your hostel as a place for the "young at heart", you just might hit a good business spot. It is true that at first look, age 37 is not your typical hostel guest but in my travels i met with a lot of people age 40 and up that were very interesting, often more than young people who had mainly 2 things on their minds.
I recently found a website of a hostel where they offer to their guests coffee provided by 'ethical partners' meaning that they pay more than 5cents to the farmer who grows the coffee.... Only this little thing attracted my attention enough that if i would have to get a room, i would with them.... There are many ways to innovate.
I know very little of Breckenridge, but i also want to open a hostel somewhere in the future and while planning i found that if the location is worth to visit, that's the only statistic worth looking at, with some good ideas and a positive attitude, everything is possible......
I'll leave it at that for now
Good luck |
