Cost of food, living, activities in Malaysia and Philippines

Hello everyone, i would like to know if any of you went to Malaysia (especially Borneo) and to the Philippines? I would like to have an idea of the cost of living in these two places; the difference in price for food, lodging, transports, activities and life in general... I hesitate between the two because Malaysia seems much more expensive.... and we have a small budget.
We are 2 and we are leaving for 6 weeks. We already went to Indonesia but are the prices in the Philippines comparable? Also it is said that the Philippines are the hidden jewel of Asia. Is it true, is it worth putting out an extra effort to visit? We already have our plane ticket to Bangkok and after..... we'll see......

I´ve been many times in Thailand, but now prefer Philippines much more. My favourite destination is Boracay Island. Found a small, but cheap, secure and clean accomodation close to White Beach; take a look at http://www.oceanbreezeinn.info .. Boracay is good for beach life, diving, night life, swimming, island hopping, nature lovers. Make a google search for more details
