Hi,
I plan on going to Miami, Florida in April 2006. The first time i went to florida with my family i found a great little hotel called Varadero (... i don't know the complete name) located in the city of Sunny Isles, on Collins Avenue (State Road A1A), it was owned by a very nice Cuban couple. We loved the place very much and returned 2 more times. The cost was about 400$ per week with fully equipped kitchen and 2 double beds! Great price! The hotel is right on the beach, you can't get any closer!
The last time i visited, i noticed that there have been major development going on around the little hotel (and i'm afraid that the hotel has been sold... they don't have a website so i could communicate with them....
So, for my next trip to Miami i'm looking for information to know if the hotel is still there? If you have any info about that please let me know.
(The hotel is called Varadero.... but it's not the Varadero IV located right beside or not too far)
If i can't get info on this hotel i'd like to find something similar around miami, right on the beach, with kitchen, 2 double beds and with a pool if possible for around 400$ per week.
If anyone has any good info on that i'd really appreciate it!
Thank you!!! |

I believe the hotel you are talking about is still in activity.
In my opinion the best option is to get to Sunny Isles and check out the hotels while there, so you can get the info and see for yourself if you like the place or not.
A room for 400$ a week is the average price for budget accommodation around this area. I don't think you will have problem finding something you like.
Have fun! |

hey flipper, sorry to dissapoint but i think that the cheap motel you are talking about is not in activity anymore.... i myself am planning a trip in the area and i'm looking for a cheap place to stay, so with a little research i found this article on the net: Dezer, Trump plan second Sunny Isles project, as you can read in the article, there guys bought out the original owners to build luxury condos.... so i'ts not for us poor people anymore, we'll have to just settle for the public beaches and motels miles away form the strip....
Still, i think it's a shame that the little cheap motels are being destroyed for luxury accommodation that only a select few can enjoy...
as for a replacement for the cheap motel, i found right across the road from the motel, the oleta river state park where you can rent primitive camping cabins for about 45$ a night. i'll check it out and get back with more info!
take care, have fun. |
